The best-selling book, ‘The EYLF and NQS Without Tears’, written by Susie Rosback and Sarah Wilson, simplifies the government guidelines for the ‘Early Years Learning Framework’ and the ‘National Quality Standards’, in Australia.
We were approached by Teaching Solutions, specialist publishers for early childhood education and care, about creating a training DVD to accompany this book.
The DVD was presented by the author Susie Rosback, who speaks regularly on how to implement the guidelines, and our video needed to condense her half-day seminar into less than 30 minutes.
Getting that right is all about scripting, and once we’d been provided with the content, we set to work to convert the seminar points into a workable ‘spoken word’ script.
Have a peek at a highlight from the video!
I worked with Susie on the script, on-camera performance and using an auto cue, and once again collaborated with my director Stig Wemyss on the style.
We used two cameras, to create the right feel and and look, and shot all the footage in one day, at the Kindergarten Susie is Director of.
To give the viewer visual insights into how to implement the standards, we created scenes with two of Susie’s staff and 7 hand-picked children.
Susie was a dream to work with, the children and staff were total pro’s.
The result is a style that’s gentle, filmic, thoroughly engaging to watch, and full of valuable information for early years educators.
Here’s what our clients said
“The whole process of working with Abbe and Stig was a joy. We have a stunning DVD that’s been received enthusiastically by our market, and added an extra dimension to our profile as providers of early childhood resources.”
